Chapter 3 of No Frills Magento Layout covers the package layout. You'll take your knowledge from Chapters 1 and 2, and learn how Magento stores all it's layout information in a XML tree called the package layout. You'll learn about handles (the organizational unit of the package layout), and how to update existing Magento layouts via code modules or the local.xml file.
